An ambient artist and film composer based in Portland, Oregon, Ann Annie uses modular synthesis to create lucid, textured atmospheres, and soothing ambient soundscapes. The jazz trained artist impeccably fuses organic and natural compositions with electronic swirls and streams to create arrangements that feel vast, introspective, meditative and empowering. Afrorack (aka Bamanya Brian)
Bamanya Brian is an experimental artist from Uganda. He is one of the people pioneering the making of electronic music instruments in Africa. He has always found fascination in tinkering with electronics, building circuits, and hacking devices and many DIY projects. He performs under the name Afrorack and has appeared at several local and international festivals in Morocco, Uganda, Germany and France.
Aqeel Aadam
Aqeel Aadam is an electronic musician from Philadelphia, PA. He began his journey as a teenager making bedroom beats with his friends before falling down the hardware synthesizer rabbit hole. Today, he seeks to blend hip-hop, post-rock, and alt-R&B roots with modern electronic music styles, and bring modular synthesizer textures into a new light. His debut album Hollow Moon, released by Mystery Circles on April 24th, is about self-exploration and self-acknowledgment. The album is inspired by personal struggles with anxiety - reflecting on the unique 'flavors' and the ways it can affect you. He invites the listener to discover their own experience within the narratives he shares through his music. Hollow Moon is available now on a limited edition cassette and all digital services.
Bana Haffar
A lifelong expatriate, Bana Haffar was born in Saudi Arabia in 1987 and spent much of her childhood in the GCC. Through her switch from 10 years of electric bass to modular synthesizers in 2014, she is attempting to dismantle years of institutional conditioning in Western systems of music theory and performance. She is interested in exploring sonic disintegration and coalescence into new forms and synthesized experiences. Bana played an integral part in the conception and growth of the Modular On The Spot platform, which has become popular in modular synth communities across the country. She is currently engaging with the materiality of sound, the essence of cloth, and the symbiosis of the machine and handmade by transposing weaving draft notation into graphic scores and rhythmic sequencing.
DesertF!sh
Nasser Alshemimry goes by the alias DesertF!sh, representing his Najdi roots and life on the West Coast of Saudi Arabia. He identifies with the limited Electronic Music scene in the Kingdom. A multi-instrumental artist and producer who is always in pursuit of quality sound in the studio and on the stage as a DJ & Live Performer. DesertF!sh works around various Electronica and showcases Industrial, DUB, Minimal, Tech, and Deep vibes with his sound.
Frae-Frae: Daughter of Drexciya
Frae-Frae: Daughter of Drexciya a.k.a LaFrae Sci is an award-winning and internationally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, educator, and composer. Bedrock to her artistry is the roots and the fruits of the blues from spirituals to afro futuristic soundscapes. As a composer, she writes for film, theater, and large and extended jazz and classical orchestras. She is able to write for any instrument, and her creative range spans immersive and ambisonic music, blues, various ethnomusicological traditions, rock, pop, hip-hop, and her own brand of subaquatic deconstructed techno soul. She is a bold conceptualist, an in-demand drummer, a jazz musician, an electronic musician who builds her own synths, is a musical ambassador, a podcaster, a band leader, and a film composer. To date, her professional career spans 30 years and she has shared her intentional creativity in 38 countries.
The Galaxy Electric
The Galaxy Electric are Augustus and Jacqueline - a husband/wife duo based in the US - who are obsessed with early electronic music that utilized magnetic tape to create new sounds no one had ever heard before! Together, they blend influences from 60s Psych pop and Retro Sci-Fi to make "Cosmic Tape Music.” Using Buchla style synthesizers, Reel to Reel and Cassette tape machines, a Mellotron, and various effects devices sprinkled with ethereal vocals they take their listeners on a cosmic journey. They spent a lot of time on the road opening for bands like Lake Ruth and Welsh artist Gwenno, and have now returned to the studio for their second full length album, “Tomorrow Was Better Yesterday.”
Trovarsi
Trovarsi is a LA based music producer and live performance artist who brings unique sound to the world of electronic music. With a hybrid blend of analogue synths, modular, drum machines and Ableton, she builds a pulsing atmosphere to any set she plays.
The use of electronic software combined with the raw sounds of drum machines and modular synths are just what make her music so captivating. Trovarsi’s vision for electronic music today is shaped and expanded further by the influences of electronic artists Surgeon, Lady Starlight, and Rebekah. In recent years Trovarsi has proven to be a talented contributor to the LA music scene.
